Navia Nguyen was born on Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam, and moved with her family to New York City in 1975. Discovered at 14 by photographer Stephan Lupino, Navia quickly rose to fame as a supermodel, signing with Elite Model Management and working with prestigious fashion houses such as Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, John Galliano, Fendi, Christian Dior, GAP, and Tommy Hilfiger. She is widely considered the first Asian supermodel, with notable appearances in the Pirelli Calendar and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
Navia also pursued acting, appearing in films like The Quiet American and Hitch, and on shows such as Sex and the City. She eventually transitioned into film production, contributing to projects like Powder Blue directed by Timothy Bui.
In 2007, as a single mother seeking a holistic environment for her daughter, Navia moved to Bali. Recognizing a market gap for wellness and beauty services that met international standards while incorporating local traditions, she founded AMO World. Her background in fashion and entertainment, combined with her innovative vision, has been instrumental in shaping the company’s approach.
During the development of her subsidiary businesses, Navia was accepted into the prestigious Owner/President Management (OPM) program at Harvard. She is set to join the Harvard alumni in 2026.
“I am excited by the innovation of combining traditional wisdom with advanced technology and high standards. AMO World is about the new luxury of a heartfelt life. We achieve this by bringing first-world standards to the Balinese way of life, creating quality, respect, and care for ourselves, our team, and our clients.” -Navia Nguyen.
